Here are few frequent questions our pet owners ask.

Q. Are Chinese Herbs safe?

A. Yes. You might be thinking about pre-made formulas from China. Our formula is made in the USA and is tested for heavy metals, pesticides, etc.

(what people should really be concerned about is if there pharmaceuticals in the pre-made formulas you may find online – even the heavy metals that have been found are less than a can of tuna!)

Q. Are there interactions with my pet’s prescriptions?

A. There are two formulas that need caution with certain medications.

No More Drama can increase SSRI's effectiveness which, when too much, can cause excitability and therefor would not relax or calm your pet. If you notice this, discontinue. It should wear off in 4-6 hours. The second possible interaction is Ouchie and blood thinners like Plavix. Turmeric has blood thinning properties. Thinning the blood excessively can cause bleeding which is life threatening. Typically we suggest not using Ouchie within 4 hours of giving your pet their medication, but please consult with your veterinarian to be safe.

Q. Is Dr Kyle a vet?

A. No, he’s a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He is a very experienced certified and licensed herbalist and has taken several extra courses in herbs & animal health. Vets are not trained in herbs and for liability purposes will not advocate for anything out of their scope.

Q. Whats the first thing I need to know about introducing Healthy Paws Herbal Labs formulas to my pet?

A. First, we'd like to welcome you to the wonderful world of a old way of "Optimizing Your Pets From Within".  A Natural & Holistic way to treat 9 common aliments in our pets. One's just like we get from time to time.

We always recommend just like starting a new diet, its always best to start with a low amount. We recommend starting at half the recommended dose for the first 3 days to let their stomach adapt. If you have an older pet, or a pet with a sensitive stomach, we recommend starting with a quarter of the recommended dose.

Q. What makes HPHL products the best natural remedy on the market?

A. Did you know turmeric and ginger thin the blood? Fortunately, we do!  Herbs are complicated and experience matters! HPHL was created by licensed, educated and trained herbalist trained in Traditional Asian Medicine, using herbs that have already worked for 1,000’s of years!

Q. Where do your herbs come from?

A. We source our herbs from a California based, practitioner exclusive supplier, that uses eco-sensitive farming and adheres to the guidelines of the Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species so as not to harm animals or herbal species. Seed to shelf consciousness ensures the tracking and accountability from the herbs’ origin as seeds, through planting, maturation, harvesting, processing, and testing.

Q. What does Synergy mean?

A. Synergy is the interaction of two or more substances that produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects. When herbs are correctly combined, and in the proper amounts, they synergistically work to enhance the other’s effects.  HPH Products does not use trendy herbs just because you may have heard of them, we use the classic, traditional, time tested combinations that have already been working on common health ailments in cats, dogs, and even horses.  The most superior categorization of herbs and their health benefits was created during the many thousands of years and many dynasties through Asia. Herbs are complicated, so rest assured our products are backed by thousands of years of experience making them the safest and most effective on the market.

Q. What does Third Party Lab Tested mean?

A. To confirm untainted results from within the company, outside labs are used to test for accuracy, safety, and several other factors.  Not only does our suppliers do their own third-party lab testing, HPH also uses a third-party lab to confirm the final product is of the highest quality.

Q. What is tested?

A. Every ingredient is tested for authenticity, potency, and contaminants including heavy metals, pesticides, and bacterium.

Q. Are herbs safe for animals?

A. Yes.  The safety of your pet is our highest concern. Medicinal herbs have been used to treat animals for thousands of years; they just haven't been made so readily available and convenient until now. However, allergies are always possible just as they are in humans.  If you notice any adverse effects, discontinue usage. Although not foolproof, you can try placing a drop of the formula on your pet’s abdomen -anywhere with little or no hair. If there is no reaction after a few hours, your pet is most likely not allergic to the herbs used in the extract. If the skin becomes red, swollen, or itchy, do not use as your pet may be allergic.

Q. Are the herbs safe for the kidneys and liver?

A. There are no known toxicities that should harm your pet’s kidneys or liver. If you are concerned, you can have your veterinarian run blood work after a few weeks to confirm there are no interactions. Forever Young has herbs that help increase blood flow to the kidneys. It also has liver protecting herbs such as milk thistle and schisandra.

Q. What is Glycerin?

A. Glycerin is a colorless, odorless, viscous liquid that is sweet-tasting and non-toxic. Glycerin can be found in cough syrups, expectorants, toothpaste and skin care products. It is made of a group of polyols, organic compounds containing hydroxyl groups.  It can be made from animals or plants. Healthy Paws Herbals uses organic vegetable glycerin to extract the herbs, providing a liquid base that is easily administered to your pet's food or directly in their mouth with a convenient syringe.

Although glycerin is thicker, it is a much safer alternative to alcohol, the most commonly used herbal extract. No need to get Sparky tipsy while you’re trying to promote health and wellness!

Q. What is the sediment at the bottom of the bottle?

A. The sediment at the bottom is a natural result of the herbs used in our concentrated formulas. During the cooking process, some herbal particles become saturated and may settle as the mixture cools. While shaking the bottle can help redistribute these particles, it is not necessary, as the liquid remains rich in herbal goodness.

Q. What is the shelf life of HPH products?

A. After opening, the formula will last 6 -12 months if at room temperature and not in direct light. If you don’t use the product daily, you can keep the formula in the refrigerator to last 1-2 years from opening.

Q. Are there preservatives in the products?

A.  Glycerin is a natural preservative so we do not add anything else.

Q. What is the Dosage?

A. We always recommend just like starting a new diet, its always best to start with a low amount. We recommend starting at half the recommended dose for the first 2 days to let their stomach adapt. If you have an older pet, or a pet with a sensitive stomach, we recommend starting with a quarter of the recommended dose.

Here are the dosages:

Twice Daily. For severe cases use three times a day.

Dosage is dependent on the weight of your pet.

For cats, start with the lower dose

< 10 lbs 0.25-0.5ml

10-25 lbs 0.5-1ml

25-50 lbs 1-1.5ml

50-75 lbs 1.5-2.5ml

75-100 lbs 2.5-3.5ml

100 -150 lbs 3.5-5 ml

Shake very well. Insert syringe, make sure its secure before turning the bottle over. Slowly pull on the syringe until the desired dosage is filled. Turn the bottle back over so it is upright. Carefully detach the syringe. Dispense the formula directly into your pet’s mouth or food by pushing the syringe handle in until all the liquid is out.

Q. Can I increase or decrease the dose?

A.Yes.  If your pet has a sensitive stomach, you may want to start with half the amount of each dose for the first three days.  Loose stool is possible if the dosage is too much.  Generally, it only takes a few doses for your pet's digestion to get used to the herbs. However, if it persists, lower the dose until it stops being loose.

If you do not observe any improvement, you can increase the dose by 50%, or add a third dosage during the day.

Q. Can I use two products at once?

A. Yes. You may need to decrease the dose of each formula so that one dosage of both formulas is the amount of just one formula's recommended dose.

Q. Can I track my package?

A. Yes, we provide a tracking number for your package!

Q. What is your Return Policy?

A. If you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, simply send it back within 30 days and we’ll refund the full cost of the item minus shipping cost. Refunds are credited back to the customer's credit card that was originally used to purchase the products.
