Homemade Dog Food Recipe They Will Devour

Posted by Kyle Burton on

Most dog owners have no idea what goes into their pup's food. Many of us have probably never even thought about it. But the truth is that commercial dog food can be full of fillers, preservatives, and other ingredients that are far from healthy. So, why not take matters into your own hands and make your own dog food? It's easier than you might think!

Ingredients You'll Need:

7 1/8oz  ground beef, 85% lean meat, fat

3/4 cup cooked rice

1/4 cup chopped carrots

1/4 cup cooked green beans

1/4 cup apple slices

5 1/2 teaspoons of olive oil

923 Calories (based on requirements for a 35 lb weight dog)

Instructions

Steps to follow:

  • Use 1 of the teaspoons to cook the beef. In the last five minutes of cooking the beef, add the green beans.
  • Add the remaining olive oil and all the carrots and apples into a blender and blend. You can add a little water if your blender gets jammed.
  • When meat and green beans are cooked, add the cooked rice.
  • When the rice is warm, add the blender combination. Turn off the heat, and mix. The apple and carrots do not need to cook.
  • Divide into two portions or if your pet only eats once a day, it’s ready to serve!

Benefits of Homemade Dog Food

Like most pet owners, you want what's best for your furry friend. When it comes to food, that means finding a balance between nutrition and price. Commercial dog food can be expensive, and it's not always easy to know what ingredients are actually in the food. One solution is to make homemade dog food. Not only is this a more affordable option, but you'll also have complete control over the ingredients that go into your dog's food. Here are some of the benefits of making homemade dog food for your pup.

Nutrient Supplement

If you decide to continue to make your own dog food, I suggest using BalanceIT.com to ensure your pet is getting all the nutrients. You enter what foods you are going to use, it calculates the nutrient profile, and has a supplement you use to add any missing essential vitamins and nutrients. You can mix up the ingredients: proteins, grains, vegetables, fruits, and oil to whatever you may have left from the store. Enter your pets wait and how many days ahead you are cooking for, and it does the rest of the work - except the cooking!

You Know Exactly What's in the Food

When you make homemade dog food, you know exactly what ingredients are going into the food. This is important because it allows you to avoid any potential allergens or other ingredients that might not agree with your dog's stomach. It also allows you to ensure that your dog gets the right mix of nutrients needed to stay healthy and happy.

You Can Save Money

Commercial dog food can be expensive, especially if you have a large breed dog. You can save a significant amount of money each month by making your own dog food. If you have extra produce, you may not even have to buy as much.

You Can Customize the Food to Your Dog's Needs

Every dog is different, and that means each one has his own unique dietary needs. If your dog has a sensitive stomach or is allergic to certain ingredients, you can easily adjust the recipe on BalanceIT.com for homemade dog food to suit his needs. This isn't always possible with commercial foods.

It's More Convenient Than You Might Think

Making homemade dog food doesn't have to be time-consuming or difficult. Plenty of simple recipes are available online that only require a few ingredients and minimal prep time. Once you get into a routine, it will be just as easy as opening a bag of commercial food—and far more rewarding. I make a week’s worth at a time. I keep 3 days worth in the fridge, and the rest in the freezer until I need it.

You Can Feel Good About What Your Dog Is Eating

When you make homemade dog food, you can feel good knowing that your pup is eating wholesome, nutritious meals that were made with love—and without all of the preservatives and fillers found in many commercial foods.

Precautions of Making Home Made Food

According to recent data, nearly two-thirds of pet owners (64%) cook their own home made dinner for their dog at least three times per week. With the increase in popularity of home cooked meals and a general desire to know what goes into our pet's food, it's no wonder that so many people are interested in taking matters into their own hands. But before you start cooking up a batch of homemade dog food, there are a few things you should know.

You Could Be Missing Key Nutrients

Unless you're working with a veterinary nutritionist or another animal health professional, it can be difficult to ensure that your homemade dog food contains all of the nutrients your pup needs to stay healthy. Vitamins and minerals like zinc, copper, and vitamin A, for example, are essential for a dog's health but are easily overlooked when preparing a home cooked meal. I use the BalanceIT supplement to make sure they’re getting everything they need for optimal health.

Some Ingredients Could Be Dangerous

There are some ingredients that are safe for humans but could be toxic for dogs. Grapes and raisins, for example, can cause kidney failure in dogs, while onions can damage their red blood cells and lead to anemia. It's important to do your research and make sure that any ingredients you're including in your homemade dog food are safe for dogs to consume.

If you're considering making your own dog food, there are a few things you should keep in mind first. While it's possible to create a healthy and cost-effective diet at home, it's also easy to miss key nutrients or include ingredients that could be harmful to your pup. Before you get started, we recommend doing your research and consulting with a veterinary nutritionist or other animal health professional to ensure that your homemade diet is complete and balanced.
